Facebook/Forum Event:Choose Favorite Golden Horse and Win
More than 30,000 years ago, Chinese ancestors invented the 10 Tian Gan (Or Heavenly Stems, in English.) and 12 Di Zhi (or 12 Earthly Branches, for chronological purposes.). Later, people used 12 animals to symbolize the 12 Earthly Branches, in order to make things easier to memorize. This is what is known as the Chinese Zodiac. The animals of the Zodiac are on a 12 year cycle, which repeats itself over time. These animals are the mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
According to legend, Buddha invited all the animals to his kingdom, but unfortunately, only a total of 12 turned up. The mouse was naturally the first, followed by the ox, then tiger, rabbit, and so on. Out of gratitude, Buddha decided to name the years after each of the animals in their order of arrival. It is essential in China that every person know which animal sign he is born under, and most Chinese truly believe that the signs reveal the hidden secrets of determining that person's future characteristics and personality.
In the year of 2014, the animal is the horse. Many people engrave personal items with a picture of a horse, which symbolize the peace, happiness and prosperity in the new year. Here, we have three Golden Horse Medals: A, B and C.
